JO SIFFERT, F1 DRIVER AND ENDURANCE, MY GRAND-DADDY
After a difficult start due to a lack of financial means, there are nevertheless resounding successes such as his victory at Enna ahead of Jim Clark. In 1968, he will finally be able to have a competitive F1, the Lotus 49 entered by the private team Rob Walker with which he won his first victory in F1 at Brands Hatch, this success will really launch his career in F1.
In 1970 he was a works driver with March but the car was not competitive.
In 1971, with a BRM factory contract, he returned to winning ways at Zeltweg and finished 4th in the world championship.
Jo Siffert is also the image of Porsche in endurance racing with successes on all circuits in the world except the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
On October 24, 1971, he lost his life in a tragic accident during the race of champions (non-championship) on the Brands Hatch circuit which had seen him triumph.
